University of Maine: The GEM Factory of the Future

The GEM Factory of the Future at the University of Maine in Orono is an $82 million, 50,000 sf commercial project using TimberBatt Acoustic in a steel stud acoustical assembly. The insulation’s dense wood fiber structure helps dampen sound transmission between spaces, supporting the acoustic performance the assembly was designed for. Both the owner and architect specified wood fiber insulation, and TimberBatt also met BABA (Buy America, Build America) requirements–a non-negotiable for the project to move forward.
